Welcome to my portfolio site! My name is Sarah Higgins and I am an Interior Design Professional with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Interior Design as well as a Kitchen and Bath Certificate from Johnson County Community College. I graduated in May of 2023. I also have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Kansas. I am currently looking for a full-time position in the Interior Design industry. I am interested in working with and learning from experienced designers, for a company with a mix of residential and commercial design work. I also love Kitchen & Bath Design.
I understand the power of place. Our surroundings give us respite from an outside world that is becoming increasingly loud and busy. My goal is to create homes and commercial spaces that enhance personal well-being, increase productivity and nurture the soul. My style is somewhat eclectic. I have used Mid-Century Modern and Craftsman elements, but love mixing in vintage and more modern pieces as well. My job as a designer is to listen carefully to each client, to fully understand their needs and wants and to deliver a functional, beautiful space.
I enjoy the problem solving that goes into each project and working with my team and clients to find a great solution. I am an organized self-starter, comfortable managing multiple projects. I like the research, programming and material selection process related to interiors. Finding sustainable design solutions is important to me. I have a background in graphic design and marketing as well as project management, prior to pursuing my Interior Design degree. In my spare time, I love to read, garden and bake. Making sourdough bread has become a bit of an obsession. I also enjoy making collage art.
